Both sites are connecting to the same db, eventhough it appears my config.php has it pointing elsewhere.Popular applications, provided by Bitnami, ready to launch on:īefore continuing, please review our useful guides about how to configure and use your application in our documentation So to recap, i am working to reset the root mysql pw so that i can ensure the dbuser for my test environment has privileges to the db.and second, i am trying to fix whatever issue in my config.php is preventing the test environment from connecting to its own test db. Ive been scouring moodle posts and mySQL forums looking for advice.i am hopeful still. I also previously tried the mysqld -init-file method, with a pointer to a reset root script, but didnt have much luck with that either. So, many developers who are used to customizing their stack using nano or vim editors (via the Bash shell) quickly discover that you first have to figure out where all the different configuration files of your stack modules reside, etc. ![]() Because Bitnami is a container approach to web stacks, it installs everything in Ubuntu (or whatever Linux distro) under the /opt/bitnami directory. I have tried using mysqld -skip-grant-tables to launch a new mySQL process, and it appears to work.i can log into myphpadmin with a new root pw, but i dont have the rights to change privileges of the users in my db. There are 3 common drawbacks to Bitnami vs. In the newest environment, i have no issues in myphpadmin. My current issue is as follows - In my PROD environment, the one which has been running for years, i failed to establish the root mySQL pw for the root user. I figured this was an easy fix, but it has been challenging. You have to map different paths at ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse in nf from each application. Not thinking clearly at the time, i realize that config.php was overwritten, which led to both environments pointing to the same db. I took a backup of the PROD site and restored the htdocs, moodledata, and SQL db to the TEST site, giving me a clean, non PROD site. I now have 2 environments running moodle 2.9.2-0 successfully. I chose to start that clean up process, as i was setting up a TEST environment, which is how i landed here. Once i had a site up, i never cleaned up the remnants of the other attempted installs. Years ago when i was asked to stand up a moodle site, i tried several of the popular install methods (XAMPP, WAMP, and landed on using the Bitnami stack. I am probably not thinking clearly b/c of panic mode. Will any of the Moodle admin BAT files (serviceinstall.bat or servicerun.bat) help me here? I have been a Moodler for years and have never muffed it up this bad. ![]() The apache service is missing, but My SQL service is there. In IIS, I have the web files still in MySQL is still in tact. I am not sure which direction to head.reinstall the stack? Or take this opportunity do a fresh install? WRONG! So the uninstaller removed more than it should have (I am guessing) but I feel like I have all the components still on my server, I just need to reconfigure/repoint things. Prior to beginning the restore of the db, I went into Add/Remove programs and noticed an extra (legacy) instance of Bitnami Moodle (like 2.3 something) was there, so I figured I would safely remove it. My plan was to overwrite the app files and db, essentially giving me two systems, both running 2.9.2-0. Using the Bitnami stack installer both times, I was successful in getting a second environment (3.1.2-2)stood up. I have/had Moodle 2.9.2-0 running in PROD on a Windows 2008 VM and was working on creating a clone of it for testing. I am in a sad place right now and could use some help.
